Snow snow snow....

In my heart I am so glad we have a white Christmas. In my back and upper arms I am NOT. I am so tired of shoveling already! I had to dig my car OUT to get to it and then i didn't even start it. Had my dad pick me up in his four wheel drive to take us to work. Didn't even want to bother! We havn't been hit as hard as some in the midwest but dang can winter be over yet????????????

peace and quiet

thats what I will have for the next week. Peace and quiet. But I would trade that all for Christmas with my kids. Today they head to my ex's to spend a week being merry and fighting at his house. While I will be home cleaning every inch of my house. That's my favorite past time while they are gone. No not really but I can pretend right. I do clean a lot while they are gone because that means no one comes along and messes it back up again. I try to do this the first day they are gone so I have the rest of the time alone to do what I want WHEN I want. So that I look forward to. But its still sad when they are gone, and the jolly old elf has come and gone and no one is there to care.

I did however, because I am such a nice mom (or maybe just a push over) let them open one gift before they went to school. I told them they had to be all ready for school and we had to get the suit cases and presents loaded in the car first. Well in order to GET to the flippen car I had to shovel snow...again. While I was shoveling snow. My kids opened their gifts. Taylor opened one from me. The easy bake oven. Now I know what you are thinking. You got him an easy bake oven? Hell yeah. This kid LOVES to cook and experiment. This way he can do that! He was soooo excited! I was glad he didn't burst into tears or think that it was dumb. He was ready to try it right then and there, but we had to leave! Poor kid.

Chris opened up a present Taylor got him. its a bakugan game. I guess Chris was excited, so excited all the parts and pieces are strewn all over my living room floor. Ahhh a little bit of Christmas morning a bit early...lol

So anyway i was out shoveling (breaking my back and ruining my hair) while they opened these gifts! i didn't even get to see them opening them. They said they were sorry after I started to cry. PMS, Christmas, Ex husbands and snow do not go well together. They apologized and said if i wanted to I could watch them open another? HA! lol

Merry Christmas easter bunny.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We have had snow since Friday night. Not a TON but about 3 inches. Just enough to make it yucky starting my car this morning. I am now certain I am asking Santa for a snow blower!

Photobucket

Saturday we stayed snuggled and warm in our home making gingerbread houses and working on Christmas projects. Got them ALL done!!! I only need to make a few GC holders. No biggie there. Saturday night we went to a coworkers house for our office party and it was so much fun! little scary coming home because it was just so icy.

Then i worked on some KNK projects for the January kit! Love January's's kit!!!

Coco card.....

Saturday was my day at KNK to do a gift for our 12 gifts of christmas!!!! The designers over there have been CHALK full of great ideas!!! Here is my gift! I got the idea off a blog a bit back and I figured out the template for a swiss miss hot chocolate pack but in all reality you can put just about anything in it. Gift Cards, candy, etc....

Photobucket

Apologies first.....
I had a hard time writing out the instructions for this card box, so I had my 8 year old film the steps. Sorry if its a bit shaky and hard to see at times.

Following the written steps is the link to the filmed steps....

Supplies needed

8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock ( i am using CS out of the december kit)
bone folder and ruler for scoring or
a trimmer with a scoring blade
heavy duty glue or tape runner
embelishments or stamps

1. Turn CS so 11 inch side is horizontal
2. Score CS at 1/4 then at 3.5, then at 4 inches, then at 7 1.4 inches then again at 7 3/4 inches. This will give your box a depth of 1/2 and inch and the width of 3 1/4.

Then turn your CS the other direction. Score each side at 1 inche then at 1.5 inches.

Using your trimmer or scissors cut your cs at the 1 1/2 score line you just made up toward the top of the sheet that has the 1/4 inch score line. STOP at the 4 inch score line that you did in the 2nd step. That score line is the side of your box. See video link below for clarification.

After you end up with your T shape Cut the little corners of the box that were made by your score lines

Now you are ready to decorate!
Fold all your score lines leaving the "pretty" side of your cs on the mountain side of your folds. The CS I am using is the cranberry color with the shimmer from the december kit. I wanted the shiny side on the outside of my box.

decorate the front and inside before you glue! I have added more embelishments and ribbon to my front.

To glue the box glue the 1/4 inch strip and the bottom flaps of your "inside" part of the card.

Be sure to let it sit and dry before you put the coco pack into the box.

Sorry guys!

Didn't realize it has been so long since I posted! Been busy at work the last couple days so I haven't had time to post there!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We go up to my aunts house about and hours drive away and eat till we puke and THEN we play games. . It was so nice that we went for a walk and the kids played outside most of the time! I forgot my camera so I have NO pictures. Strange for me huh?

We enjoyed the 4 day weekend by decorating the house for Christmas! I have my tree up and my collection of Christmas houses all done. Saturday we went shopping early in the morning to avoid crowds and boy we sure avoided them! The stores were dead! It was so nice to shop without people pushing and shoving. Then we headed to my office to help my dad paint. We chose a color called 'antique linen'. It looks very nice. It really needed it!

Sunday was spent working on Christmas projects (sorry can not share) and laundry. Then it was a lasagna dinner with my dad! All in all a great rest.

Monday kicked off KNK's 12 days of Christmas gifts at their site! There are 12 straight days of hand crafted gifts posted with instructions! My day is the 6th so I will post it her too!

Right around the corner

The Christmas season is right around the corner! I am almost done shopping! A few more projects to make this next weekend and then I am done! I even finished my Christmas cards!

One of our holiday traditions is to get ONE new ornament for Thanksgiving. Thats when the season begins for us. I get each my kids a ornament for the tree we put up the weekend after turkey day. My kids love it. This year Taylor's ornament is Elvis gyrating his hips. Yeah i know....but he will LOVE it! I haven't found Chris's yet but hope to do that today while I am out.

Another tradition is Christmas movies. I try to add one to our collection every year. I think this year will be Rudolph. We love that one.

We also have recipe traditions. We love to make hot cider in the Crockpot, make cookies, and sticky buns for Christmas morning.

What traditions does your family have during the holidays?

Random kid quote of the day

While driving to school this morning:

Chris: I want to be imortal.

Taylor: What's immortal?

Chris: That's when you never die.

Taylor: Oh, I want to be a dog.

Chris: Why would you want to be a dog?

Taylor: So I can poop anywhere I want.

Sometimes the love shines on through

Yesterday my oldest had a really hard time with a mean kid. The kid has never been mean to him01 before and while they are not 'friends' it still hurt Chris a lot. Enough that when he came home from school he burst into tears. He did tell me all about it and it seemed to help to get it off his chest. My advise to him was to ignore the kid. Act like he isn't around. I told him that the more hurt he shows the more the kid will bug him.

Chris is so sensitive that its not easy for him to let things just roll off his back. I worry that his skin isn't thick enough for the bully's in the world. Let's face it. Everyone gets picked on. I sure had my share of it. I just learned that what they said didn't matter and they were all just a bunch of pooty heads anyway. I don't think Chris can do that yet.

Taylor asked me at bedtime last night what was bothering Chris and I just told him that there was a mean boy in band class who was giving him a hard time. Taylor became infuriated and started telling me what Chris should have done. I had to remind bug that Chris was different and more careful with people's feelings and that its really hard for him to stand up for himself.

After tuck in time for both boys Taylor snuck into Chris's room and got up on the top bunk with him and gave him a huge hug. I started to go into the room to tell him to get back to bed but Taylor was telling Chris how to handle this guy. Telling him to tell the kid to shut up and mind his own business. To stand up for himself and not let this guy make him cry. Then he told them if that doesn't work "you tell him his brother will beat him up". He would too. At that moment I knew it. I knew that even if they fight like cats and dogs over the stupidest things they still love each other fiercely and completely. Chris gave Bug a hug told him he would appreciate that, and then moment was over. They went to bed happy and together. I couldn't bring myself to make Bug go back to bed. I guess what Chris needed was his little brother for this situation. Hopefully the kids won't make fun of him today, cuz I would hate for Bug to get suspended for beating up a sixth grader. I know Taylor would follow through because back in day care there was a mean mean kid (i mean really mean) who picked on Taylor from the time they were old enough to crawl! They would be laying on a blanket all happy and cooing and G (I will call him that for his protection) would roll over and bite Taylor on the arm or leg! As they got older he continued to pick on him, take his chicken nuggets at lunch, push him, tease him. I even think at one point the kid locked him in the bathroom. One day I got a call from the daycare, when Taylor and G were about 5, warning me that I may get a call from G's mother. Apparently Taylor had just had enough and stood up on the picnic table and yelled at the top of his lungs, "G I am going to kick your ASS!!!" And then he did.

G is in Taylors 3rd grade class, and was in his second. G dose NOT pick on Taylor and they play at recess all the time.

Bing Crosby makes me cry....

I am already in full swing for Christmas. No decorations yet or anything but I am in full swing on the shopping, making, wrapping and enjoying!! I am not ashamed to admit it. I am an adult now I can do what I want. If I want to listen to Christmas music in the middle of November i can! And i am. Of course the wonderful round of Bing Crosby singing white Christmas while my aunt flo is visiting is not a good combination. Its like watching a Hallmark commercial, you know the one where the big brother is away at war but makes it home Christmas morning to surprise his little sister. K, he may not have been at war but he was gone a long time ok. Any way....a good Bing Crosby makes me bawl, and get goose bumps.

My mom used to have these fantastic records that she would play at Christmas. Bing Crosby of course, Perry Como, Johny Mathis to name a few, and I still have them. I don't use them, but they are in a box in my closet. I will never let them go. Even now if there isn't a swing band in the music I usually don't listen to it. I might listen to a few different cd's at Christmas but I head right back to that era. That feels like Christmas to me. Oh that and THIS cd....All TIME FAVORITE FROM THE TIME I WAS ABOUT 4!  I know all the songs by heart AND what order they come in. I would shut myself up in my bedroom and listen to my mothers tape over and over and over again (oh wait that was lastnight with my IPOD) AND SING!! Constantly. You were so patient mom. Thanks for letting me do that!

albums

Alli Edwards is an amazing scrapper. I may not like her 'style' all the time but the WAY she scrapbooks amazes me. Me and my friend Sarah have been really enthralled with Alli's concept of her Christmas mini album. Go here to see her concept. We  have both decided to do one of these albums. I had planned on doing it this weekend but ended up finishing some quilts for Xmas presents instead. Sarah on the other hand got right on it and I am thoroughly jealous! She emailed me all her pages and now I want to start more than ever!!

She does not have a blog (yet...nudge nudge) so i put her pages in an album here for you all to look at!! She actually included the dates to the 28th of December which also happens to be her birthday. Take a look and leave her some love!!

Sarah's album

Oh and THIS is what happens when my kids get all liquored up on root beer!

Fun Halloween!!

Friday we had a pre trick or treat party with friends and family. We ate pizza, caramel apples, candy and laughed and giggled. The kids were all dressed up and so cute. I didn't get too many pictures of the party but here are some of my kids and Heather's son.

Costumesweb

Taylor was a vampire (thanks Heather for the makeup) Garret was an army guy, and Chris was a mad scientist.

After the party we treated at a few houses in our neighbor hood and then we decided to head over to my friends neighbor hood and it was PACKED! I had never seen so many trick or treaters. My friends hubby said they had at LEAST 200 kids. We spent a good hour there treating then came home. It was such a beautiful night. It was so warm! we didn't even wear jackets! That has got to be the first Halloween I can ever remember that we didn't' need freaking snow suits to trick or treat! We had so much fun! It was even enjoyable to me to walk with boys and not freeze to death! Then we came home and sorted candy. We took out the peanut containing candy in Chris's and traded them with Taylor. Then we watched scary movies in my room! All it all it was a GREAT night!

Since my boss, who is also my father, said I could put Photoshop on the work computer I have been proofing all the family reunion pictures I took in August. Decided, just today while Im'ing Sarah that I would do 8x8 digital pages for this mini book so that if anyone else wanted them all they would have to do is print them out!

amazing

12w_2  This young lady was only about 3 when I met her. Maybe even younger. She was the cute niece of my fiance and now ex hubby. She used to believe that the pocket of my front overalls carried magic rocks. She used to sing " A kiss from a rose" anytime anyone would listen. I remember he carrying babies around like potato sacks and jumping on the tramp with all her cousins. She has grown in to a beautiful caring young woman. I recently got to spend some time with her while taking her Sr. Portraits. It made me realize how much I have missed watching her grow up. Sure I see her now and then but not like I used to. Now she is almost grown up and has future plans. Girl stop growing and become that little girl again for me will ya???

I am still proofing her SR portraits but I have some more on my photography blog!!

I have  temporary fix for my photoshop problem. My brother had given me a version of it for Christmas and I never installed it because I didn't think i could handle it. Well I installed it but it turns out its only a thirty day trial!! LOL. So I have about 3 shoots to proof in ONE month LOL..ok so 2.5 because I am almost done with the one I am in the middle in right now.

I brought one of the others here the office to work on when its slow. OH please be slow!! lol

Does it all have to fall right now?

ugh. sorry I haven't been here. I am not having any major drama or anything.. actually with one thing I am.

I washed my phone Friday so those of you who left messages I didn't get them till yesterday when i got my new phone. And yes I do know that you can check them on land lines but lets face it what fun is that AND no one really ever calls me so I didn't think to check!!

My photo editing software is not working. Now those of you who know me KNOW this is my major drama. I use this program EVERY day. EVERY day. No exaggeration. Not only am I in the middle of a shoot but I have one coming up AND one of my family reunion that I need to do. THIS is not the time for this to happen. I worked almost all day Saturday on it trying to restore my computer. My last hope is to reinstall the program......hoping Blake is reading this..giggle. If not I may have to buy a new program to put it on my work computer to get these done. I already talked to my dad (OK BAWLED to my dad and he said it was OK if I did that.) only problem is its about a 400 dollar program. Yeah freaked me out too. C'mon Blake pull through for me babe!

So anywho thats my life little bits and pieces falling, but at least I can pick them up!

OH and I have LOTS to blog about WITH pictures so that will just have to wait! lol....

pennies from heaven!

what an amazing morning!

I woke up this morning to my youngest asking if he could cuddle cuz he was cold. he crawled in under the covers and stuck his FREEZING feet on my legs. brrrr....love fall but not liking the fact that its getting cooler! I love our cuddle time together. he loves it too. Sometimes he will set his alarm earlier than mine (about an hour before he NEEDS to wake up) just so he can come cuddle before I get up to take my shower. Then he sleeps in my bed while i shower and do my hair. I can not believe that he still likes to cuddle. I am so lucky.

Then as I was about to leave I noticed an unopened envelope under the table! I grabbed it ready to yell at my kids for dropping it and not picking it up when I noticed it was from my mortgage company. inside was a LARGE check for an escrow overage!!! How exciting!! There is my Christmas money!! hurrahhhhh!!

Yes mom.....you are so very right. The Lord provides....

seriously now

Will I ever find a trimmer that will fit all my paper trimming needs? I have been through several trimmers since beginning the stamping/scrapping lifestyle. I started with this.

Personeltrimmermed

Great little trimmer but after i moved from mostly cards to mostly scrapping it was wayyyyy too small. So moved to this.....

Personeltrimmermed_2

Worked pretty well till the plastic warped.

then i went with a more deluxe model. Really no difference except in design.

Personeltrimmermed_3

I broke the arm thingy....

so i got this...

Scrapbookdotcom_2019_44906844

It has been my favorite so far

then I thought I HAD to have this....

Personeltrimmermed_5

HATED THE THING WITH A PASSION!!!! Sold it at garage sale.

then I got this to replace the last one...

Personeltrimmermed_6

This one was way better than the mm but lately I have been unhappy with it. the paper at the bottom cuts ragged and i can never seem to get a straight cut. the main thing I hate is trying to trim thin strips of paper and not being able to put them under the guard without them moving before i can cut! I realized I really like trimmers with a bit of a grid on the RIGHT of the trimmer. Thats what I remember most about my cutterpede.

so last night I went and got this at Roberts at 40% off.

Personeltrimmermed_7

There is a bit of grid on the right, its a rotary, and has a gaurd. I haven't really had a chance to use it yet. I did take it out of the package this morning and cut a few papers with it. Seems to cut well and I like the little flap at the top. you just push it with your left thumb and it pops up just a bit to adjust paper. Seems to make that process faster! I will give a full review after I use the crap out of it!!!

Growing up, my mother was pretty strict. Not to the point of suffocation or anything but hanging out was not acceptable, going somewhere with unknown kids was not acceptable, dating weirdos or unknowns was out and going to concerts, or places where it was dark and unsupervised (arcades) was a no no. Even CHRISTIAN rock where I am pretty sure doobies were NOT passed around. The most rock I was aloud to listen to in the house was Bon Jovi or Europe. Even after I graduated I had to leave my harder rock stuff in my truck so my little brother didn't hear it. Harder rock for me was Areosmith. Bad lyrics in quite a few songs so I understood no prob.

Now that the hard rock of my days is tame and considered CLASSIC rock (sheesh), I am living out my teenage concert years in my 30's. Oh and mom my areosmith cd's are tame compared to what Matt listens to now, so I don't think it would have even mattered if I had played "Love in an elevator" directly into his head phones while he slept. It wasn't I who corrupted the kid who has "more porn" on his cell phone ringer ( and no my brother isn't really THAT bad) Just thinks its cool to shock people in the line in front of him at grocery stores.

As a result of this teenage rebellion (in my 30's) I hit the road Sunday for Jackpot Nevada, sin city in the middle of no where, to see a Foreigner concert!!! It totally ROCKED! I really enjoyed myself and even gambled 20 dollars worth. Came home a little tired and sick from cigarette smoke, but happy non the less. There was more beer at this concert than I have EVER seen. No wonder my mother never let me go!!! Mom I was safe, didn't sit next to any guys with tattoos or piercing, I didn't get picked up by the drummer, and I didn't even drink. See how much you COULD have trusted me...giggle...what a rebel I am....

And just so my mom KNOWS who I went to see here is a sample!!

so creative!

Stack I made 25 cards this weekend!! I am so low on cards and have so many stamps I have never used. I picked a few stampin up sets and just went to work! The kids played outside most of the day and I had a crockpot dinner going so it was perfect! I made several of the same cards of a couple different sets!

salsa

Salsaw

Salsa01w

This is what me and Christopher did together last night. We made home made salsa! I had all these tomatoes and nothing to do with them i dug right in!! I had been giving so much away to keep up with the harvest (amazing for only two regular tomato plants, and more coming) that I decided to keep the current batch to myself. I blanched and peeled the toms, Chris cut them up and put them in the pot and then I cut onion, jalapeno pepper (my thumb is STILL numb) celery, and cilantro. then we added spices and let it cook for about 30 minutes. My thumb was covered in jalapeno juice and while making dinner I licked it and my tongue went numb, after a bit of crying anyway. So when I was tasting the salsa I couldn't even figure out what it was missing or anything. I just decided to freeze it up and hope for the best. I got about 5 rubber made containers full. Little containers so we can finish up the salsa before it goes bad. I brought one into work hoping it was ok. LaRee some and said it was good so YEAH!! I did it!!

The kids punishment is going well....I got a ton of housecleaning out of them last night and they did NOT talk to each other at all. Every time they thought about it gave them a look. It was so quiet! holy crap. I mean quiet. Taylor asked me how long it would be before I let them talk to each other again. I really had to think because the peace was amazing. I told him it would be when i thought they could get along with out fighting and screaming at each other. Dang that could be years.....

Mornings

Most mornings in our house are calm. The boys wake up, the boys eat breakfast, make their beds, brush their teeth and do their hair. Then they are free to do whatever they want till its time to leave. This morning did not go that way.

I am doing this in list form:

boys screamed and cried when waking up this morning because it was cold.

Boys whined and yelled because they were told to wear long sleeve shirts.

boys pushed each other while getting their close on so they would topple down and giggle, with their jeans down around the ankle.

The boys complained that they had to have cereal this morning instead of pancakes.

The boys complained that i had to ask them twice to put their cereal mess away. By mess I MEAN mess....

Then while trying to brush their teeth Chris locked bug out of the bathroom and bug proceeded to try to knock the bathroom door down.

Chris very thoughtfully opened the door for a split second to throw bugs toothbrush on the floor and slammed the door shut on bugs fingers. BAD

Chris LEFT THE DOOR SHUT ON HIS BROTHERS FINGERS WHILE TAYLOR SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER.

Chris had to comfort his brother while mom took several deep breaths while holding his finger under cold water, and checking for actual breaks it was so bad.

Chris had to apologize to bug. through tears.

Mom had to ground both boys from each other, game boys, TV, and computer. They can not talk, eat, play, or fight together.

We managed to actually get to school on time, with all our teeth brushed and all our fingers still connected.

ahhhhh the joys of freaking mother hood.

I wanna check you for tics

Tell me what does the word 'cowboy' conjures in your head? A rugged, hairy good looking bronc with chaps and a stetson hat? An old haggard man working on barbed wire fence in the middle of the range with cows bumping up against him? Or even the cute kids down the street who always wear wranglers and love to ride in their dad's jacked up Dodge?  Me too. Well mostly. Other things come to mind, but those mostly have to do with my ex hubby so I won't get into that.

Today, while waiting at a desolate truck stop for my ex to drop off my kids, a mini van pulls up. Shiny silver grand caravan. The kind that those cute blond mommy's, with her 4 kids and a couple dozen neighbor kids in it, drive. The kind that has the dvd players in the back for every seat so that God forbid you would have to talk to your family in the car. And also the kind that you do not expect the weirdest looking "cowboy" to get out of. I put "cowboy" in quote marks because he is in the sense trying to be a cowboy, but not an actual cowboy. He is wearing stark BLACK wranglers. I know...... black?? What self respecting cowboy wears anything but faded blue? If they do wear black its because they are their yucky pair they wear to cut the balls of the bulls for yummy eats. Not only were his wranglers black but they were TUCKED in to his Yellow boots! holy cow...i mean bull...WTH???!! Now I know some of you reading this just don't understand. You don't live in "cowboy" country. I am here to tell you!!! COW BOYS do not wear YELLOW!!! NO they don't. Especially on thier FEET!!  Then on top of his beautifully black panted behind was a RED flannel shirt with orange suspenders. i was dying by then. Laughing so hard I had to turn my radio up! honest...oh gosh... if only Clint Eastwood was here! He'd of hogged tied him and strung him up by his big toe for bein a sissy. Said with the chaw sitting in the side of my mouth, and a twang from my nose. He did have a pretty decent hat though..... it matched his boots......

slept forever and still tired....

Stephw phew...ok. I had a ton of people at my house this weekend!! It was so great! My family came up from Burley and Gooding to see my new house and to SCRAP!! And scrap we did. Thats why I had the tabulation down below.

I did a total of six layouts (no one is missing for a reason) and two projects. I posted the 'boo' project that Danelle brought, but the other one is for KNK and I can't post it yet. But i will soon!

I have a messy house to clean and after 12 hours of sleep I am still soo tired. Marciw Thursday night we stayed up till about 1 scrapping and giggling. And Friday some of us (ahem, me and heather) stayed up till 4!!! Up again about 7:30. yikes. Then it was a bit more scrapping Saturday morning and then everyone left but Heather! We just spent another few hours scrapping and I got a TON done in a swap book I am doing with my friend Sarah! I am almost done with it!! After Heather left I did have hopes of doing some more scrapping but I was just beat!! I left everything as is and sat my butt down on the couch and watched " Made of Honor". It was cute, not my fav but fun to watch. Then I took a shower and went to bed.

Debw So today is cleaning then off to pick up the boys from their father! LOVES to everyone who came and special thanks to Danelle for bringing her Cricut. SOOOOO want one now its not even funny! A LOT of my layouts down below have cricut letters or images!!

I can't believe it but I didn't take more than a few photos of everyone! I realized that the reason I FEEL like I took a ton is because I actually did it with Lois's camera!! yikes!

off to clean!

toodles!
